What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidenced based psychotherapy that helps the mind process traumatic memories and bring them to an adaptive resolution.

Traumatic memories can sometimes remain in a stuck place which can cause distressing emotions, anxiety or physical reactions as if the trauma is happening all over again. This experience can negatively impact daily functioning. EMDR helps to reduce anxiety and stress, regulate the nervous system, improve emotional regulation and allow you to move forward with greater peaces without feeling negatively impacted by the past.

EMDR can help to address trauma that is left unprocessed so that you can move forward in the present without feeling held back by the past.

How Does EMDR Therapy Work?

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation such as taps or eye movements to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories. EMDR also helps to address negative belief systems that may have originated as a result of the trauma.

What Kind of Conditions Does EMDR Help With?

EMDR can be helpful for those that are looking for support with conditions such as Trauma and PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Panic Attacks, Distressing Memories and Phobias.
